youtube-dl isn't working

My issue:
I installed sinusbot on my vps earlier today on ubuntu 16 64 bit but the bots didn't spawn at all so I changed to OS Debian Jesse. Here the bots did work apart from YT-DL.
When I put !yt it gives me the following error: youtube-dl download failed (check youtube-dl). When I try to upload a playlist it shows this in bot log: Could not get playlist: exit status 1.

What did I try: I obvioulsy looked for a solution on the internet and on the forums. There I found this page: wiki.sinusbot.com and I followed its steps. I indeed didn't have yt-dl in my folder so I added it with the commands as told on the page. I rebooted my vps and it still didn't work. Then I changed the path in my config.ini to: “/opt/sinusbot/youtube-dl”. Rebooted, still all the same errors. Also when I use the command /opt/sinusbot/youtube-dl -U to update my yt-dl it says "youtube-dl is up-to-date (2018.01.21)"

I would appreciate any bit of help to fix this issue, thanks in advance

I am currently running two different vps, the one where I installed sinusbot on about a month agoo still works fine. I can still add playlists and use !yt but on the new vps youtube-dl just isn't working at all. Doesn't matter which OS I am using, I tried Debian 8 & 9 and Ubuntu 16 64x.
When I tried installing yt-dl yesterday it showed: youtube-dl is up-to-date (2018.01.27) so that's even newer than when I tried it two days agoo.
