Solved API user permissions

I am working at the moment at an alternative design for the SinusBot and I am trying to understand the logic behind the user permissions. But I am not quite getting it since sometimes the "privileges" value highers +1 for certain permissions and for some 1000+. Unfortunately the API documentation is not very clear about this as it is just telling "bitmask of the users' privileges", or "bitmask of all privileges the user has, see privileges", but nothing more.
Does anyone know how it's being calculated or which value has which permission? Providing where to find this information would also be nice! Thanks for your help!
