Same problem here. Could not contact update server after starting fake x-server. Any solution to fix this issue and get sinusbot working again?

Edit:

Solved for now. Our firewall has blocked two cloudflare servers which were the update servers. Unblocked them and everything is working. But now its giving a lot of spam on debian 8 jessie when calling ./sinusbot.

Edit 2:

Solved the second issue, too. I enabled the x-server debug in config, which was spamming the console. Now its disabled again and everything is working fine. Seems that the two cloudflare servers are the update servers and if theyre banned by firewall, sinusbot can't start the x-server.

Hallo habe derzeit leider fast das gleiche Problem ;( Bot lief bislang ohne problem bis ich Debian 8 drauf war. Bot deinstalliert und neu installiert per script und seit dem her bekomme ich nach Installation folgendes

Problembeschreibung
Ich habe heute Nacht einen sog. Snapshot von meinem System gemacht, welcher das System herunterfährt und ein Vollbackup macht. Seitdem kann ich den Bot nicht mehr starten. Unteradnerem habe ich auch "/tmp/.sinusbot.lock" gelöscht, da die Meldung kam, dass der Bot darauf nicht zugreifen konnte.

Glaube wenn die Meldung kam das der update server nicht kontaktiert werden konnte war glaub ich die Uhrzeit des server falsch. Überprüf das sonst mal.

Ich konnte das Problem lösen. Annscheinend hat es mein Server-Anbieter geschafft, meine resolv.conf zu leeren...

Well.. it is saying why and what you are doing wrong. It says "WARN !!!!!!! YOU ARE RUNNING THE BOT AS UID 0 (ROOT) WITHOUT HAVING SET ANOTHER UID. THIS IS A SERIOUS SECURITY VIOLATION !!!!!!!!" So yes, don't run the bot as root or try using the parameter "-RunningAsRootIsEvilAndIKnowThat" if you can live with the possible consequences.

Well yes.. thats whats the error messages says. Its basically a LOUD SCREAM that you are trying to run a open (public) Beta service with root rights. So if the sinusbot has any vulnerability (which is likely in a beta) the attacker would have FULL control of your server.

Take it as the same warning windows gives you when you are trying to install a program and need to say yes as admin.

Problem:
Ich wollte heute den Bot starten und habe diese Fehlermeldung gesehen. Ich habe auch gelesen, dass dies auftritt, wenn man eine falsche Zeit eingestellt hat. Ich habe also die Zeit des Servers mit "sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata" richtig eingestell (auf Zürich).
Das Problem bleibt nach der richtigen Zeit setzung jedoch noch ...!

Ich freue mich auf jede Antwort!
